Large antique English washbasin A.B & Co May model – flow blue floral

Large antique English transferware basin with a blue-grey floral flow blue / transferware design, marked on the reverse A.B & Co – MAY under a crown.

This beautiful piece is an antique English washbasin, probably originally part of a bedroom set including a matching basin and pitcher. The very elegant design features large blue-grey floral compositions arranged around the inner and outer rims, with a slightly blurred effect typical of English “flow blue” transferware. The shape is wide, deep, and highly decorative.

The A.B & Co mark is attributable to British production from the late 19th or very early 20th century. Several English manufacturers used these initials, so the attribution should be treated with caution, but the piece clearly belongs to the tradition of English transferware from this period.

Very beautiful size: 37.5 cm in diameter, ideal as a decorative piece, centrepiece, bowl, catchall, plant pot, or collector’s item for lovers of antique English earthenware.

Beautiful antique decorative piece in an English country, shabby chic, vintage or country house style.

Condition

Antique condition with signs of use: patina, stains, small scratches, marks of age, and a small visible chip on the rim (original). The piece is sold as is, with its charm of use and authenticity.
